Dear Dr Udayakumar, and OBGYN.net Sonographers,

I would be interested to hear your opinion about the outflow tract size in this fetus, a question posed by the author. I think that appearance may be quite normal. It is common to see a "chunkier" (for lack of a better word) MPA when compared to AO. Also, I have a hard time conceptualising significant pressure differences in the AO and MPA antenatally when the ductus arteriosus is patent. It seems to me that the pressures in the two vessels have to be just about the same, hence difference in vessel size should not be influenced by pressures. Are any of you fetal echocardiographers out there available for discussion?

Yours,

--
Martin Necas.
