Re: question regarding the history of sonography schoolsFrom: Terry DuBose (terrydubose@sbcglobal.net)Sun Jul 23 09:27:39 2006
Brown's school in Oklahoma was very early, perhaps the first formal college/university based DMS program. However, I remember Joan Baker saying that she had come from England to Stanford University to teach how to perform transcranial mid-line shift studies. That may not qualify as the first sonographic school, but may have been the first sonographic education in the USA. Perhaps Joan will document the dates of her early work here. Joan has been called the "Mother of American Sonography". I know she is a bit modest about talking about herself, but I hope she will put down at least the dates, location, events, and who was involved as she recalls those facts. It is important to our profession. This program is now the U.M.B.C program however I do not think this was the first established program. It seems to me that the program at Oklahoma came earlier Roger Sanders

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
