Re: In memoriam: Billye BellFrom: DuBose, Terry (DuboseTerryJ@uams.edu)Tue Mar 7 09:43:16 2006
Marveen, it does seem that I met Billye Bell at some point. Her name is hard to forget, but I do not remember the circumstances. I am going to include this message in the OBGYN.net Ultrasound-History messages, and other lists, for documentation. Thanks for letting us know. Terry J. DuBose, M.S., RDMS, FSDMS, FAIUM Associate Professor & Director Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, CHRP 4301 West Markham St. Mail Slot #563 Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205 USA 501-686-6510 DuBoseTerryJ@UAMS.edu http://www.uams.edu/chrp/sonography/ http://www.obgyn.net/us/panel/panel.htm http://www.io.com/~dubose/ --------------------------------------------------------------- ________________________________ --------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------- From: Marveen Craig [mailto:cramar25@comcast.net] Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 10:02 AM To: DuBose, Terry Subject: In memoriam: Billye Bell Dear Terry, Another sonographer has left us. I don't know if you knew her, but Billye Bell was quite an accomplished sonographer - especially in the then new field of Doppler. She fought many bouts of cancer over the past years. Both Gretchen and Joan Baker knew her better than I did and may be able to fill you in if you desire more information. I was fortunate to be lecturing at the same meeting with her and Joan in Alaska during one of Billye's remissions. She was a gifted "teacher" in her capacity as an apps specialist at the time. Here is the message I received via Gretchen: Subject: Billye Bell To all: My name is Keith Hodge, I am one of Billye's sons. I am sorry to inform you that mom passed away at home last Friday morning (Mar. 3). She passed quietly in her sleep after her long struggle. I am sending this to various people in mom's address book that may or may not have already heard. Many of the names I recognize and many I don't, nor do I know how fast the news has travelled. I didn't include many names because I know they have already been informed. If you know of other people that should know, please pass it on to them. I will be checking this email address for a while, then in a month or so I will disable it. The notice we have been sending out (with minor changes) is below. Thank-you. Keith We have all gathered in Houston for the last few days. It has been wonderful to share memories, support one another, and see the family. We are all very grateful that Billye has moved on and is no longer in pain. The Family has decided to have two celebrations in honor of Billye. The information is below. The 'Rosebuds' from MDA, Billye's support group, will have a celebration in her honor on Monday, March 6th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The celebration is at: Ken & Brenda Laughery 817 Anderson St. Bellaire, TX 77401 713-667-7862. The dress is casual, and the atmosphere is hoped to be fun and lighthearted. Bring your best remembrance to be shared with everyone. If you cannot attend, please e-mail your remembrance to Billye's email billyebell@sbcglobal.net The second celebration will be held at The Ranch on Saturday, March 11th at 1 pm. BBQ lunch will be served and remembrances will be shared. We will also spread Billye's ashes on the ranch per her request. The dress is casual, and the atmosphere will also be fun and lighthearted. If you can attend please call Mary at 210-663-5977 or call Richard at 713-669-1834 (until Thursday) and they can send you directions to the Ranch. If you are unable to attend, you can send your remembrances to mary@bellengineering.net , or fax to 830-428-8361. In lieu of flowers or gifts for either celebration, Billye expressed a desire for people to consider making donations to: The Rosebuds Breast Cancer Support Group 3316 University Houston, TX 77005-3354.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
