Thanks for taking the time out to read my >message. Hi Kristen, My name is Jamie and I am the exact same way as you, except this summer..I got to experience an exeptional program called THE NATION YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM ON MEDICINE. I adore babies, and cannot imagine becoming anything else but an OB-GYN. Being in the room with a fmaily that is so happy to see their new precious gift is such an amazing feeling, and one I never want to miss out on. Athe forum I attended, I was able to shadow doctors, talk to residents, surgeons, Hospital managers and many others in the medical field. The coolest thing about it though, was that I actually got to witness two very neat surgeries (in the surgical room right at the feet of the patinet; a c-section and a vaginal culdeplasty). It was ten days of Medical simulations, where you have a patient with symptoms they give to you slowly, and you go to Medical Universities and research the information you know, to diagnose them. The website for the organization is NYLF.org it was the most in dept view any student could ask for. It costs $2000 but was well worth the money. Medical school might be a challenge, but guess what, students like us who have the drive can make it without a doubt. You do usually have to be nominated for the forum...and you have to have at least a 3.5 GPA to attend..but hopefully that isn't a problem. I am sure you could make arrangements with the group so that you can attend the summer of 2003. Good luck and if you or anyone else would like to email me for more information, feel free!!
