Hello...I am a high school senior interested in going into obstetrics. I am currently doing an internship in maternity at a local hospital, and am certain that this is how I want to spend the rest of my life. But many doctors (and nurses) have warned me at length about going into obstetrics because of malpractice suits. I know it shouldnt hinder me from following my dream, but is it really that big of an issue that I should consider it before I go into obstetrics? Also, another question, for those ob/gyns with families-- is it difficult to manage your family when you are called at such irregular hours? Those are basically my two concerns. Thanks for your help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
