This is the official response from PrimeCo's executive office regarding the problem of "in-Building" digital phone coverage. I have found this to be variable, but better than analog cellular phones. I am still very impressed with my use of the Q(tm)Phone, and PrimeCo plan on continuing to use it after I have completed my review. Due to hospital restrictions of the use of cell phones, I am going to use a small numeric only pager ($60.00/year) with my Q(tm)Phone, and use my Q(tm)Phone for my text messages. Since this is unlimited in it's usage, it will save money as compared to any Alpha paging service that charges by the character or message. The personal communications in my practice has definitely been enhanced by the Q(tm)Phone and PrimeCo. I highly recommend it to all of you looking to improve your "availabity" to your practice and your patients. It will also make your life easier by having such a small, portable device available to you at your command for whatever communicating you require. When the email retrieval, and connection to a PC or PDA is available, this miraculous instrument will become even more invaluable!

I feel that this is very reasonable. The future does indeed look bright. The problem of in-hospital usage will be a constant problem that will be difficult to fix. Speaking with my own hospital administration, they acknowledge that digital cellular is NOT a problem within a hospital. They however, still take a total "no cellular" stand due to the desire to maintain a "consistent policy" for all cellular users (it is currently impossible to look at phone in use and distinquish analog from digital.) This is something I am going to have to think about, and work with the digital providers to come up with a solution for the future. Maybe analog phones will become "extinct" by the time in-building coverage is effective.
