A. This is my simple prototype 'Bill of Rights' for the Internet. It applies equally to orthopaedic sites. It gives a quick and sensible first cut evaluation.:
1. Tell me who you are 2. What are your credentials 3. Don't lie to me or give me misleading information 4. Give me accurate and up to date information 5. Tell me about your authority and references 6. Tell who is behind the site 7. Do I have to pay for anything 8. What are my rights and guarantees if I buy anything 9. What is your area of relevance, is this available in my country 10. How do I get in touch with you
B. You might like to look at the methods used by OMNI <http://www.omni.ac.uk>
C. The work done by the Summit Working Group and coordinated by HITI is of great interest, albeit aimed at consumers of health information: http://www.mitretek.org/hiti/showcase/documents/criteria.html
D. Finally, the British Healthcare Internet Association has a document on the subject: http://www.bhia.org
Hope that helps.
