on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/solutions/HIPAA/techinfo/healthinformation.aspE-Commerce E-commerce applications help an organization develop successful relationships. Within the healthcare industry, this could involve performing healthcare transactions such as insurance eligibility verifications, insurance claims submissions, or sharing patient information between a doctor<92>s office and a hospital. Scenarios such as these generate numerous security concerns that will be affected by the new HIPAA standards. To address situations such as these, Microsoft is currently developing a public-key security infrastructure to integrate public-key security with Windows 2000 security and enable strong security for enterprise and Internet communications. In addition, Microsoft is distributing a healthcare framework kit (including documentation, sample apps, and XML representations of the HIPAA X.12N and 4010 transactions sets) that demonstrates methods for building a messaging infrastructure.
