Recently we have been asked by administration to re-evaluate our policy of not letting family in during the ultrasound exam. We have balanced this by adding 15 minutes of exam time to ensure that we will have enough time to spend showing everyone the baby. We developed this policy because technologists were constantly forgetting to film key parts to the exam because of distractions. Our patient callback rate has decreased since we instituted this policy, but our patient satisfaction rate has gone down. What does your department policy allow?
