Most experts agree that in the first 3 months, minimize all possible medications because there's no way of knowing what may affect organ development and the obstetrical milieu (environment). This is a plain rule of thumb without specifics. Although much has been written about many medications in each trimester, very few things consistently cause problems. Some studies are now showing the use of anti-cancer drugs may be OK in certain trimesters.
