Re: hydronephrosisFrom: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 19 Dec 1999 22:13:43 -0600
Liz, I am sorry that I can't help answer the questions. I understand you concern and my prayers are with you. AM --original message-- please help me. i am 19 weeks pregnant and at an ultrasound on the 17th of dec, they found that my baby has bilateral hydronephrosis and suggested that i consider an amnio because the kidney disorder elevates my risk for Down's. they have alreay schedules a fetal heart echo for the same reason. can you please help me...is there really a correlation between hydronephrosis and Down's syndrome? are there other anomalies that would have been compatible with DS and would have appeared on the ultra sound? please respond asap, as i must have the amnio this week if at all. i prefer not to, as my mom lost twins in an amnio-induced miscarriage. i am 30 years old and my AFP test put me at a 1 in 1142 risk for Down's. thank you so much. sincerely, liz
