Hi Marshella

I have written to the forum at the end of November about my experience with a cord accident which has led to developmental delays in my wee girl. I am aware that some 40% of babies are born with the cord around their neck and are perfectly fine. In fact out of my five chbildren three have been born with the cord around the neck but the last one was induced too strongly and coupled with the nuchal cord led to the problems she has encountered. An Obstetrician I spoke to after my delivery said that often they see the cord around the neck during routine ultrasound but because it is something that happens so often they usually don;t mention to the mother in case of worrying her but it usually doesnt present a problem. I think that because of the size of the baby at term there is only so much they can see by ultrasound and I think they only see the linkage to the placenta and a few centimters up. That is my only knowledge of the situation. Hope it helps some. It is really scarey - this cord business.
