I agree with Mary. I actually had 2 sticks because of the baby's ever changing position and felt nothing more than a shot. I do think the key is to STAY RELAXED. The more tense you are, the more it'll hurt. I just watched the monitor, breathed deeply and WILLED myself to remain calm and relaxed.

BTW, they ended up NOT being able to get the draw and I decided to come back for a 3rd stick. I had no problems with it on either occasion. Oh and both were done earlier...the first was done at 17 weeks, the second at 21 weeks. I don't know if that makes a difference. I've never had one done late in pregnancy though.
