Growing Healthy!From: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 1 Dec 1999 10:23:31 -0600 (CST)
I had my first *real* OB appointment yesterday! I was 8 weeks and 3 days. First thing was to go over a complete life and family history with someone. I was given a goodie bag full of coupons and samples, freebies, and lots of paperwork to read. Today also marked my first standard "pee in a cup". I think the nurse took about a pint of blood for testing! Well, it seemed like it. In the exam room I weighed in (fully clothed) at 121 pounds. My prepregnancy weight was 118. I think their scale might be over by a pound, but no big difference. The doctor said that I am a very good size for my date. He could even feel the baby! That was soooo neat! Since I just had an ultrasound two weeks ago, my next one won't be until I am at 20 weeks. They will video tape the next u/s if we supply the tape! He is concerned about all the presriptions that I am on, which are mostly for my sinuses. I have to go back to the doctor that prescribed them to see if we can do without anything. I really need those prescriptions and can't do without. We'll have to see. I was supposed to visit an ENT (ear-nose-throat doctor) about possibly having sinus surgery. And then I learned that I was pregnant, so for now that is on hold. My daughter had lots of clues and giveaways about me being pregnant. She seems to be suspicious still, but even after the appointment yesterday she just asked more questions about moms and having babies. She never came out directly and mentioned about me having baby. I think that she has an idea about it, but is afraid that she might be wrong so she's not saying anything. She was very cute there, though! She put on a "I am Dr. Kerry" personality and was very professional and smart, too! The doctor just loved her! He even gave her "doctor toys" such as a glove, tongue depressers, and a couple weird shaped tongue depresser like things. She told him what I needed, what to do and what to prescribe. She was something to be proud of! I am sure the doctor will look forward to seeing her again, LOL! He was shocked to learn that we were the ones who gave birth at home when she was born, LOL! He still remembers that. He'll be watching me ;-) I'm making a webpage about this pregnancy, too. Should be fun! AM
