cats and carpets

I recently moved into an apartment that has cat spray and urination all over the carpets. The carpets have been cleaned a few times already but the smell has not left. Can the amonia smell from the rug cause problems to me or the pregnancy since it is all around the house and theres not to much that I can do about it? I'm mostly worried about any diseases or respirtory problems it can have on my child because of the amonia smell.
