First let me say that I am not a doctor, I am a certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. I work with physicians, and do not see patients on my own.

It is true that Pena-Shokeir syndrome has some characteristics that can often be identified by sonography. However, I think you should be able to find a competent physician -- sonographer team in Mexico that can help you. To Dr. DuBose: Hello. My name is Jessica Milstein, i´m 27 years old and in january 9, 1998 i had a son born with pena-shokeir syndrome who died 3 days later. I have a healthy 4 year old and in my first pregnancy everything was OK, i never realize i coul´d have a genetic disorder until my second pregnancy. I just found out i´m pregnant again. i´m very happy, but very scared because for what i´ve heard there´s no test to confirm the pena-shokeir syndrome, only by ultrasound. i´m writing to you because i wanted to know more about early detection of this syndrome and if you have some expirience with it, maby we can make an appointment. I don´t know how many ultrasounds do i have to do and in which week of pregnancy. I live in mexico but i can make arrangements if it´s necessary. I´m hoping you can help me in any way you can and i thank you for your time
