Hi Jay,

Your concern for your sister is so sweet. :)

During my second pregnancy I fell in a fashion similar to what you describe. I was in my 7th or 8th month. I ended up with a sprained ankle and was on crutches in the middle of a Michigan winter for 6 weeks. Not a pleasant situation to say the least. But there (in my case) were no problems with the pregnancy or baby. Now he's a joyful, extremely intelligent 12 going on 18 year old!

Don't worry about the stories you hear. Most likely some *minor* details have been left out, like how great of a fall these people took - couple flights of stairs, off a ladder, etc.?? And most people catch themselves with their arms or hands and don't fall directly on the abdomen.

Encourage her to follow the doctor's advice. If she notices anything unusual she should call her doctor right away, as is true with any unusual symptoms during pregnancy for whatever reason.

This sure would be a good reason to pamper her though!

Best wishes to her for a healthy pregnancy and baby. Be sure to let us know when s/he is born and all the details!
