Blood SugarFrom: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 22 Nov 1999 00:07:37 -0600 (CST)
I've been getting the feeling lately that my blood sugar sometimes gets low an hour or two after I eat. I used to get low blood sugar levels in my last pregnancy, but I never reported it to the doctor. (No lectures, I promise to tell the new one at my first appointment. :) At the time, I worked in a hospital. When I tested my patients or whenever else I felt the need, I'd just pull out the glucometer and test myself. Anytime I felt symptoms my level was below 70 (usually 50's--60's, about two hours after eating), with the lowest reading of record at 46. Of course I'd then treat myself with some orange juice, spiked with a little sugar if really low. That always helped. I don't have a home glucometer and I don't work at the hospital anymore. So, unfortunately I can't even test my sugar levels now to verify. I was planning to talk to the doctor about all of this and see if he suggests getting a meter or other thoughts. In the meantime, can this wait till my appointment next week, or does it necessitate a call sooner? I have already had to use O.J. as a quick fix and of course it seemed to work. AM
