inductionFrom: carol (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 19 Nov 1999 09:58:59 -0600 (CST)
I am currently 39wks pregnant and have been 2 cm for 2 wks and am now 80% effaced. My doctor says my cervix is favorable, I am not exactly sure what that means. We discussed possible induction 4-7 days after my due date (11/26). I had an u/s at 8wks which showed my due date as 11/24 and one at 13 wks which showed 11/26, which I hope are pretty accurate. I started having contractions at 28 wks and was put on bed rest. They did an u/s then and the due date came up as 12/1. The measurement of the head wasn't very accurate they told me because the head was too far down and they didn't want to push on me because I was in pain. First question is which u/s is most accurate? Also, if I am 2 cm and 80% effaced, am I favorable for induction at 40.5 to 41 wks? I am very anxious to have this baby and really do want to be induced if I go over a wk. How common are failed inductions? I have 4 sisters whom have been induced 8 out of their 11 children. Theirs all went great. Is that a good sign for me? Thanks in advance!
