Breastfeeding and BC pills...From: Christy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 16 Nov 1999 10:49:25 -0600 (CST)
I had a baby girl about 6 weeks ago. On my 4 week visit with my OB> he asked what I planned to use for birth control. My husband is Navy and left when our now 18 month old son was just 11 days and he was gone for 6 months so BC wasn't a concern then and by the time my husband came home I had stopped breastfeeding and I got pregnant a month later. I used BC pills before I was pregnant with my son and was told I got the "highest" dose(ortho-cyclen) due to being overweight and a non smoker. I thought when you are breastfeeding you get something called the mini pill? I didn't the Dr. gave me ortho-novum 7/7/7. which he says is a low dose pill, but isn't it still a combination pill? Is this really still safe for my baby? Was this given to me because I am overweight?. thanx
