My husband and I have been trying to conceive for three months now, going off the pill after six years. My first two periods were both 30 days exactly. My last period was 44 days ago. When I went to the gynecologist for my annual exam, I was 6 days late based on a 30 day cycle (day 36), so I asked to have a pregnancy test done. It was negative. He drew blood to measure my progesterone level- the results are not back yet. Based on the results, he may put me on a regiment of progesterone.

Could I be pregnant? I really don't have any other symptoms that I recognize (I have never been pregnant before). If not, then why have I not gotten my period? What will taking progesterone do? If I am pregnant, will taking it affect the baby?
