rh factor questionFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 31 Oct 1999 07:19:09 -0600 (CST)
I have received some confusing news that I am rh neg. I went through a pg before with a different father. that pg went to term and all was well. I have very good care when I was pg, but no one ever mentioned that I was rh neg. I know that I did not recieve RhoGam either during or after the pg. I had an early miscarriage with my new Husband many months ago. Now I am 10 weeks pg again. My blood work came back from the lab and the dr said that I will need to recieve RhoGam because I am rh neg. Is it possible that my bllod type changed? Do I have any increased risks if I was neg before, and only finding out now with the second baby. The RhoGam thing seems easy enough, but I have also heard of babies needing blood transfusions in utero because of rh. Can you please explain why that happens. Sorry so many questions, but I am really quite confused. My Husband is rh positive. Thanks so much.
