One More Question About Test OutcomeFrom: Midge (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Oct 1999 18:39:47 -0500 (CDT)
I was wondering if medication could be the reason the ANA test came back with a low positive result (<1:40 with a speckled pattern). I had taken 2 fiorinal about an hour or two before I had my blood drawn. The other blood work came out fine (anticardiolipin antibody and lupus anticoagulant just to name a few). I have read that there is a chance of a false positive result as you get older, too (I am 36). Should I have told the lab tech that I had taken this? These tests were done after my 2nd m/c in 5 mos. I had gotten a migraine as a result of the news but it never occurred to me until a few days ago that I may have messed up the results. Should I have the test rerun? I'd really appreciate your help as I would like to avoid another miscarriage if possible. (By the way, I didn't take any medication during the pregnancy...not even a Tylenol.)
