Re: Ultrasound reveals fetal measurements don't match

I just had a baby 2 weeks ago and can share my story. We had about 12 level 2 US on our baby. Many times the femur length was way behind all other measurements. Approximately 3-4 weeks behind. No-one was concerned.

Then at 33 weeks, the femur length was catching up but then the head size jumped to 4 weeks ahead of me. I was told it is a sign of brain damage but all exams of his brain checked out fine.

We just had a 2 week check-up and his head size is in the 60th percentile vs about 95th percentile according to US.

If your friend is concerned, she should request a level 2 US to check fetal size again. I am told that US aren't very accurate measurements and therfore not to put too much stock into what is found. We worried ourselves silly over all the possible things that could be wrong and it was for nothing. Our little guy is perfectly healthy.

I wish your friend luck.

Cindy
