Prednisone in PregnancyFrom: Midge (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 24 Oct 1999 22:01:22 -0500 (CDT)
I miscarried for the 2nd time in 5 mos. My dr. and I think we have found the problem as my blood work shows a low positive result to antinuclear antibodies (a titer of <1:40 with a speckled pattern). I don't go to my dr. until Nov. 3rd and have been trying to research this in the meantime. I believe that low doses of prednisone can help the body from rejecting the fetus. My question is - what kind of dosage is usually given and for how long (throughout the pregnancy)? Also, if a low dosage is given, are the side effects less likely? Does the medication cross the placenta and affect the fetus? Your help would be appreciated!
