I also currently have a recto-vaginal fistula. I delivered an 8lb 7oz. girl back in April. Since then, I have had two repairs. My most recent repair was done 3 weeks ago using a Flap surgery. It held for 3 weeks, and I am now experiencing more drainage from the vagina. I have seen many specialists for this problem. I have seen a urogynecologist, and I am now seeing a colon/rectal surgeon. Laureen, if you are reading this I urge you to see this type of surgeon if you haven't already! The way I understand it, I will have a couple more opportunities for the Flap surgery. After that, it has been suggested to me that a temporary colostomy may be necessary to give the area time to heal with no passage. I'm praying that it won't come to that. Laureen, please know that you are not alone! Hang in there!>
