abnormal pap test & 8 wks pregnantFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Oct 1999 16:20:32 -0500 (CDT)
Hello. I have a question. I am 8 wks pregnant and just found out due to a mix up with informing me earlier that my pap from July came back with abnormal cells. This is my fourth pregnancy (I have a 3 yr old & 18 mo old & m/c end of July/99 at 8.5 wks). About 5 or 6 yrs ago I had an abnormal pap & I had to have a coloscopy done (freezing the abnormal cells off). I was told at that time that I was one level away from the cells becoming cancerous (cannot remember the exact level but a chart was drawn & the next level was considered cancerous). I get pap tests done every yr without fail & when the abnormal results were diagnosed they (ob/gyn) was quite shocked at the rapid growth as there was nothing there the previous year & the growth looked like it was a 2 or 3 yr time period instead of one yr. For two yr after I had paps every six months and then went to yearly as they looked fine. Now it seems to be abnormal again. I am curious as to what good reason for abnormal cells? Could it just be my body was regenerating old cells? I have to go back in Jan for another pap (I will be around 24 wks) and it is just a wait and see until then. I am sorry this is so long! My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 10 yrs ago & this past summer had a reaccurence. She is currently undergoing at least 6 months worth of chemo as it has moved to the lungs and this is the second set of abnormal pap that I have been through. Is there any correlation between ovarian cancer and abnormal pap results? I am hoping that it is nothing and that in three months I will get an everything is fine on the pap! Anybody who has any info on this will be greatly appreciated! Thank you
-- Michelle
