Question for Dr. Shanahan....need response, please.

The first u/s I had at 14wks LMP told me that my baby was 15wks 5 dys old which does not correlate to my LMP date (29 March). In fact, it made the date of conception the day before my LMP which I doubt is possible. Then, I had a level 2 u/s at 18 wks. LMP by a perinatologist she said that the date of the baby is correlating with my LMP date. The results of the level 2 u/s are the dates that my OB is now using, which I feel is right. My questions are: 1) I have been told that the earlier the u/s, the more accurate the dating. Could the level 2 u/s be wrong when I feel it is right? And why such a huge discrepency in the baby's age between the 1st u/s at 14 wks LMP and the 2nd (level 2) at 18 wks LMP(approx. 2 weeks)?

2) Could my baby have been bigger at 14 wks than at 18 wks?

3) The u/s tech told me she could not get a weight on the baby at the time of the first u/s (14wks LMP)...which, from her results, saying the baby was 15wks 5 dys old, she SHOULD have been able to get a weight on the baby at that age. Correct? She said the u/s machine could not get weights less than 2oz. and if the baby was as old as she said it was at the time of the u/s, the weight could be measured. This tells me that the baby was correlating to my LMP at the time of the first u/s and she just measured and dated wrong. Could my inclination be right (since the 2nd u/s showed the baby matching my LMP dates)?

4) Last question, when an u/s tech performs an u/s, takes measurements and pictures...then has everything sent to a Dr. to read...does the Dr. do his own measurements from the pictures or does he/she go by the u/s tech's measurements?

Sorry so long...just need answers!
