I, too, was a little too eager although I did wait until the first day I was late. But, in the first 5 days after I missed my period, I took TEN pregnancy tests!! It took until the evening of the 5th day to show an incredibly faint line. I went in for a blood test later that week and, sure enough, I was pregnant....with twins, as we later found out. So, yes, the tests can give false negatives! Just wait until about a week after you miss your period :)
