Yes, your accident could have caused your abruption. Although there are often no known reasons why this happens, abdominal trauma may most certainly cause premature separation of placenta from the uterine wall ( abruption ). I would be very thankful they intervened when they did, this kind of bleeding can very well be life threatening. Very sorry to hear about your loss though. Best wishes on any subsequent attempts.
