Re: help after miscarriage please?From: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Sep 1999 09:10:59 -0500 (CDT)
Lisa, My situation was similar to what you're going through. I started spotting January 1. By the middle of January, my doctor said I would miscarry due to a blighted ovum, and she wanted me to miscarry naturally rather than do a D & C. She gave me two weeks, and I bled (prettly lightly) the whole time and finally passed tissue on February 1. I continued to bleed, and after about four weeks, I had an ultrasound and my doctor said I did not need a D & C because everything passed or was absorbed. My doctor also checked my hormone (HCG?) levels at various points to make sure they were going down and I would not need a D & C. My experience concerned my mother and mother-in-law because they just expected I'd get a D & C right away. However, my doctor said D & Cs aren't done anymore like they used to be because of the possibility of scarring and "scraping too much". (Sorry to be graphic.) I trust my doctor very much, and I don't think what you're going through is uncommon. Take care and keep you chin up. -Mary
