Glucose Screening TestFrom: Donna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 23 Sep 1999 08:48:57 -0500 (CDT)
I am 26 weeks pregnant and have a "routine" glucose test scheduled soon. I heard from some people that drinking a can of Pepsi (has more sugar than Coke), may give the same results as drinking the sugar drink that the lab provides. I also read somewhere that tests are being done after a certain number of jelly beans are consumed. Does anyone have any research or know where I could find some on this topic? My ob/gyn said she hasn't heard of it personally, but it makes sense to her. She said I need to have solid research to take to the hospital lab... The reason why I am so worried is that this is my second pregnancy...during my first, I attempted to drink the sugar drink provided on three different occassions and could not keep it down. The glucose test could not be done. Please help if you can! Thank You!!!
