Christy, this I understand. You have prior history that dictates a careful watch. So do I. Of my 5 pregnancies, one was a son born by c/s after a failed induction at 42 weeks. He was over 11 lbs and 24" long. My 4th was PPROM at 27 weeks with delivery at 28.4 weeks.
> More insight as to why they do it??? Well, If you are at 4cm for a week But this is not a given either. A woman can walk around 3 or 4 cms dilated for a week or more and this does not mean she will have a quick labor and birth. Each person/pregnancy/labor/delivery is different. I know it is not easy going past your due date. The days seem like weeks, especially if you have friends and family calling to say "you haven't had THAT BABY yet??"! On the flip side it is also not easy to go to the doc at 37 weeks, have him say you are 2 cms, and you hope to deliver in the next week and stay there for weeks. It isn't easy either way. So, with a woman with no significant history and no problems in the current pregnany, why not leave her be and let the baby come when he or she is ready? Mary
