My mother was hypnotized with her first born (my older brother 40 years ago in Baltimore. She said she would have done it the same way with my sister and I if she could find a doctor who used the method. Apparently it is extremely time consuming to learn to be hypnotized. It isn't like you see on TV where you watch an object an are all the sudden out of it. You have to learn to completely relax your body. Anyway she was completely pain free, they did administer what she calls "twilight sleep", but she was fully conscious.
