Thank you very much >> An HSG is short for Hysterosalpingogram. It is an x-ray of your reproductive tract. They insert a catheter into your vagina up into your uterus and release a dye that will flow through your tubes and uterus, then a series of x-rays are done. They can detect blocked tubes, growths, and in my case very minute fibroids in my uterus. The reason why it "helps" with infertility is that sometimes fluid or mucous gets into the tubes and the dye can actually push it out enabling an egg to get through. :o) Jennifer
