Re: When should husband's sperm be tested?From: Nancy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Sep 1999 21:17:57 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Amalia, The RE I was seeing for secondary infertility would not do a HSG until a sperm test was done on my husband and simple blood tests were done on me. I even had an biopsy before moving to the HSG. And of course I was busy charting (BBT)and using ovulation predictor kits. It makes sense as the HSG is a more invasive test and MUCH more expensive (I think but can't remember exactly but it cost around $600-$800 for the HSG - paid by my insurance, and $66 for the sperm test - not paid by my insurance). We never went for the post-coital test as I got pregnant right after the HSG (this often happens).
