Magnesium Oxide

It was recommended to me to take magnesium oxide (up to 400mg/day) to help with some of the discomfort that I have been experiencing. I'm wondering what others think about this? I haven't been able to find much about this product and use in pregnancy. (Not like I've looked too hard though!) Tylenol does me absolutely no good. The discomfort is in my lower back/left hip and affects my ability to walk and sit. I kinda-of have to lean to the right which of course causes a beautiful varicose vein, that has appearted out of no where, to bulge. Thanks for any input.
