At age 42 you are at greater risk of having a baby with a chromosomal abnormality such as Downs syndrome (about 1:60 at your age). Risks of diabetes and high blood pressure are also greater. These conditions can be detrimental to you as well as teh baby. Both of these risks are increased even more as you are already hypertensive and overweight as well. Your own doctor is better able to assess your risks and to help you maximize your chances of a healthy pregnancy if you do conceive.
