Re: Caster Oil to Induce Labor?

Hi! For my second I did the castor oil - it didn't work! Neither did the dr gently moving the cervix away (uncomfortable! though!) to promote labor (I was 2 cm and she said this sometimes helps - didn't). She also advised having sex because of something in the sperm (though she advised in the morn as if you do at nite you will go into labor at nite & she didn't want to be woken up! LOL) That didn't work either (too much pressure on DH to do it when grandma had our dd for 30 min! LOL).

I think it depends on your body - nothing short of actual drug induction (even then) can start labor if you are not ready!

But question why she had to have a c-sec - there is usually a reason. It is possible to have a vaginal after c-sec provided there isn't a medical reason (some people don't dilate or are to small).

By the by, what worked for me is when I was 4 cm the dr broke my water (I was in the hospital as first baby came VERY quickly at less than 4 hr start to finish) and after 15 min of nothing I went to 10 cm in 30 min (very painful! and my uterus didn't shut down so kept bleeding and had to have an iv) and it took 6 min of pushing!
