Bonnie, Even though you love your doctor and feel that he is looking out for you and our baby, you may need to find a new doctor. I am pregnant with my 5th child and dealing with some of the same issues. My first was a c/sec., second and third were VBACs, fourth was another c/sec. My plan was to go back to the group of mid-wives who delivered my third. The group of doctors they practice with are possibly willing to give me a "trial of labor". I don't feel a lot of confidence in their voices when they say that. I will most likely change to an ob who is very highly qualified.(chief of obstetrics at her hospital) She takes on all types of cases.(breech, VBAC etc.)Even though I will have to go about an hour for my appts., I know I will be given a fair chance. I too suffered emotionally with my c/secs. All labors are different. Mine sure were. I don't think it's fair that your doctor assumes that your body will do exactly the same thing during your next labor. Give yourself and your baby the fair chance you deserve. I know it is hard to change doctors because you probably feel like you are betraying him. I'm sure you can find a doctor or midwife who will really give you a fair chance. My first VBAC was at a birth center. Wonderful experience! I never dialated past 3cm. with my first labor. Have confidence in your body. Give yourself a fair chance. Read a book called Silent Knife. Sorry this went so long. I'm very passionate about this subject. Feel free to e-mail me if I can be of any support. Good Luck!
