Swollen anklesFrom: caroline (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 10 Sep 1999 08:24:31 -0500 (CDT)
I am 19 weeks pregnant and so far no problems. Over the past several days I have noticed that my ankles have been noticably swollen, the left ankle much more so than the right. I have only minimal swelling in my hands (nothing more so than in my non-pregnant state on hot, humid days) and none in my face, legs, etc. that either I or my husband can notice. Swelling does seem to reduce overnight (I've been working on sleeping on my left side as recommended). I have a desk job which I'm sure adds to the problem. My question - in my reading on this the issue of pre-eclampsia comes up. Other people tell me that swelling of the ankles is very common. I have my next doctor's appointment in about two weeks - is there a reason I should ask to come in early for a blood pressure check? Even though this pregnancy is going great, we're very nervous because I've lost two pregnancies since May 1998, one due to blighted ovum at 7 weeks and one due to PROM at 17 weeks. Thanks for any help or insight! Caroline
