Definitely.

Most women may not need an episiotomy and healing from small tears is preferable to a large episiotomy. On the other hand, multiple large laceration from a big baby in a smaller mom would not be better than an episiotomy. Each labor and delivery much be taken on its own merits and decisions must be made for each patient at the time of delivery.
