Chronic back pain during pregnancyFrom: Dorene (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 2 Sep 1999 11:20:42 -0500 (CDT)
I am 33 years old and have suffered with chronic back pain for the last 9 years. My back problems resulted from a car accident and subsequent three spinal operations. The final operation was a L4-S1 CD fusion (with hardware). I have tried many therapies to try to live with the chronic pain, however nothing has helped except pain medication such as Oxycodone (Percocet). Now that my husband I and want to have children I am very concerned about being pregnant and taking medications. I have tried many times to live without the medications, but with no success. I am interested to find out if there are pain medications that can be taken during pregnancy, and how can I find a doctor in my area (Westchester, NY) who specializes in working with women who have chronic pain and are pregnent. Thank you.
