Miscarriage and HCG levelsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 2 Sep 1999 08:46:08 EDT
I miscarried at nine weeks (August 2, 1999). I felt as if I was ovulating approximately three weeks after that (August 20). Then approximately one week later I started having some pregnancy symptoms (morning sickness, bad cramping for two days). Therefore, I took a pregnancy test that Friday (August 27) and it came out positive. I called the doctor on Monday and came in for a blood test. They told me it was negative. I asked them if there was any trace of the hcg hormone left in me from the miscarriage and they told me that is not what they tested for. They said they tested for the beta count. Here I am four days later and I am still getting a positive on my home pregnancy test. Could this positive result be from the miscarriage? Could I even ovulate with hcg still present in my system? One last twist, my basal body temperature in the morning is 98.6 and I have been getting a temperature of 99.4 during the day. I am not sure what all this means. Help please!
