Re: Pregnancy & HypoglycemiaFrom: Cindy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Aug 1999 11:48:31 -0500 (CDT)
Dear sirs, I am a 32 year old in my 31st week of pregnancy and have been diagnosed has having gestational diabetes from a glucose tollerance test (1 hour). However, I have been hypoglycemic for years and am experiencing exaserbated low blood sugars lately. Especially since I started following a diabetic diet I am having lows all the way down to 11. My OB-Gyn does not seem concerned about the lows, only highs. The only high readings I have is after having a low and taking juice, it will rebound to 140-150. She suggests countering the lows by having crackers and cheese instead of the juice. Will this give me enough glucose to rebound to a normal level? What effect is this having on the baby?
