Re: What are signs of a missed miscarriage???From: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 31 Aug 1999 01:23:03 -0500 (CDT)
I had slight spotting, but no other signs. Just a gut feeling that something was wrong. I went to the OB/GYN clinic and they did an ultrasound. There was no heartbeat. Risk of infection is the same for a miscarriage. My doctor recommended a D&C (Dilation & Curretage - spelling?) on the same day. At the follow-up she asked me how I knew something was wrong because there was no bleeding. I have read that there are several reasons to suggest this course of action: (1) to get the process over with because it is often difficult for mothers to go carrying the fetus, (2) the length and intensity of the bleeding may be lessened and (3) the risk of infection may be lessened since the procedure is performed by professionals and there is a follow-up check-up. Hope you are doing well. Julie
