First, noone can do anything to you without your consent. Youd do not have to agree to be induced. His concern is that they probably can not be sure whether this is just hypertension or pregnancy induced hypertension. And there are risks in either condition, the latter being the worse. But from what you have told us, it sounds like it is mild, so I would feel comfortable based on this, in asking the doc to please wait a week or two and see what your B/P does and if you just go into labor on your own. If though, you experience headahces, visual changes like spots, stars or halos, or upper abdomial pain at anytime, you give up the ghost and see the doctor immediately. These are definite signs of pre-eclampsia and you need to be induced. Delivery is the only cure and neglecting these symptoms could cause seizures and possibly death to you and your unborn child. Don't ever be afraid to talk to a doctor about your concerns. If they do not welcome knowing how their patients feel about things, then to mu way of thinking, they do not deserve my business. Hope this helps. Kathy You may reply to me at: <kat52gre@excite.com>
