I can't remember exactly how long but I do remember it was not all the way healed at my 6 week check up. My doc told me to soak in a bath with peroxide added to the water. Now, how possible is that when you have a new baby? I cleaned it several times a day with peroxide.[every time I went to the bathroom.] You should definetly wash it every time you shower. Another good suggestion is when you get out of the shower, use your hair dryer [on low] to carefully dry the site. Do it for a couple minutes. [This also works well for diaper rash.] Do keep an eye out for infection. It's been 18 months for me and I have long since healed. That one spot on my scar is not as smooth as the rest of the scar. I hope this info helps. Good luck. Celeste
