Julie: It is hard to know what might be wrong with your perineum that would make you be in this much pain for so long. But I can assure you it is not normal. There are a number of ways to handle this. First, I would probably contact your insurance company and tell them the problem with your physician and ask for a referral to a new physician who will take you seriously. Explain how you dop not wish to run up large insurance bills and ask for any advice they can give you. It also helps them to know who is treating their patients badly whenit comes to authorizing payment. There is also in some cities a tollfree number to call where they can help you find a physician with a good reputation. You might also talk to a lawyer who handles malpractice. Not that you need to sue anyone at this point but they can also be good references. They know who is being looked at and who is not. You might also can the hospital where you delivered and ask for an appointment to see the chief of OB or Chief of Staff and express your concerns. They might also help make things right. It also makes them aware of a problem that might need to fix with their staff. I think there is always a way to make things right. It just sometimes takes creative thinking and perseverence. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Let us know what happens. Kathy
