sulcus tearsFrom: anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Aug 1999 12:14:59 -0500 (CDT)
I delivered my first baby 3 weeks ago. Although it was a non-operative delivery, I suffered sulcus tears and a second degree tear--my baby has a large head. The tears appear to be healing, though I am concerned about scar tissue. I have 3 questions: 1. At this points there anything I can do to reduce scar tissue? 2. Am I likely to tear again if I choose to have a second baby? Am I a candidate for an episiotomy? 3. While I've been able to find lots of information on second degree tears on this site, I have found very little on sulcus tears. I'm gathering these aren't all that common. Does anyone know how likely I am to heal properly from this injury? Thank you, Anne
